Portland-based A Decade Apart started when frontman Lucas Hobbs, guitarist Stacy Noll and drummer Travis Maier joined to form 'Severed Ties' in 2000. Driven by post-grunge aesthetics, heavy metal, and choppy, down-tuned guitar riffs, the group was ultimately brought to an end by (what else?) women and pride. After what was supposed to be a temporary hiatus to pursue other projects, the group reunited in 2010 as A Decade Apart.
Bringing in Rob Bitter on bass, the band tempered their alternative metal sound with a more thorough and melodic approach while still retaining the hard rock edge that owes so much to the musical pioneers Tool, Rage Against the Machine and Sevendust.
Not quite alternative metal, harder than alternative rock, A Decade Apart has found the sound and presence that make people move.
